Two Yellow Lines

Yellow Lines

Two yellow lines,

You’re doing just fine,

Keep to your lane,

Try not to look outside the pane,

Enjoy every bit of the drive,

Eventually, you’ll arrive,

Steering in and out,

On Grey black tracks,

Lay Two yellow lines,

You mind your lane,

Let them mind their lane,

On Roads and off roads,

We are all goats!

You’re doing just fine,

On either side,

Of the two yellow lines.

This piece combines my watercolor artwork with a poetic reflection on life’s journey, using the image of a road as a metaphor. The two yellow lines serve as a guiding path, symbolizing the need to stay focused on my course while allowing others to navigate theirs. My poem suggests that the journey is as important as the destination, embracing both the ups and downs with the lighthearted comparison of “we are all goats”—a reminder of shared experiences and challenges.

The artwork complements the poem beautifully. Its central road is flanked by green organic shapes and hints of red, which could represent the natural scenery on either side of life’s path. The colors feel soft yet grounded, highlighting the central yellow lines that symbolize steadiness and direction. The composition feels meditative, inviting viewers to ponder their journeys while staying “in their lane.”

This piece captures a calm yet purposeful message about self-focus, resilience, and respect for others’ paths. It’s an inspiring reminder to stay centered amid life’s complexities.

Much Love — Joy Sagar
