Verse 23 – Tao Te Ching!

Verse 23 – Tao Te Ching!

To talk little is natural.
High winds do not last all morning.
Heavy rain does not last all day.
Why is this? Heaven and Earth!
If heaven and earth cannot make things eternal,
How is it possible for man?

He who follows the Tao
Is at one with the Tao.
He who is virtuous
Experiences virtue.
He who loses the way
Is lost.
When you are at one with the Tao,
The Tao welcomes you.
When you are at one with the virtue,
The virtue is always there.
When you’re one with the loss,
The loss is experienced willingly.

He who does not trust enough
Will not be trusted.

Verse 23 From the book – Tao Te Ching by Lao Tsu – as translated by Gia-Fu Feng and Jane English published by Vintage Books.

Reading this verse of Tao Te Ching, takes me back many years ago, precisely to 2003. Transition from India to USA was amazing and painlessly surprising. Finding employment was a different story. My ability to earn and be a provider to my family at the time was threatened by rejections and delays. When everyone would go to bed, I was staying up late searching for jobs, wanting to start my career desperately.

I played television in the background as white noise. One of the nights I heard this man called Dr. Wayne Dyer who was talking about how he took Tao as his life’s philosophy for one full year and lived and practiced as best possible what the Tao was teaching him. Impressive! to know that someone could dedicate his whole year to find the discoveries from a philosophy.

Dr. Wayne Dyer’s understanding through the phrase, “Change your thoughts, Change your life”, now makes perfect sense. (I feel I owe a sense of #Gratitude to Dr. Wayne Dyer for inspiring me with his ease of public speaking. I always admire him for his presentation skills and persona among many other things). At that time I had no clue to what it was. I had no idea what natural laws or spiritual laws were. I now realize, I was getting a subtle teaching of Law of Attraction.

When I meditate on the above verse 23 from Tao Te Ching, I can only understand equivalent of a scratch as to what Lao Tsu is trying to convey. Lao Tsu not once said, or asked, that we have to find virtue, happiness, loss, trust etc, to experience them but what we may create on the inside surely will express and lead us on the outside to become one with the experience of them.

One of many beautiful facets of meditation has been the ability to reflect. Reflect on this verse as you read and let it sink in. As you would sit back silently, quietly, solemnly, you will discover, everything that you can be appreciative and or critical of in someone or a situation, we can plapate the same within us. All that is outside of you is because it is inside of you.

Affirmations:
Today, I choose to stay close to my thought.
Today, I choose to reflect within.
Today, I choose to honor and respect the heaven and earth that is within me.
